Starting Over - Ken Parker

Ken thought he had the flu, but three days later, he was fighting for his life. To save him, doctors had to amputate both of his legs above his knees and all of his fingers except his left thumb. Rather than sinking into depression over his enormous loss, Ken became an inspiration to all who know him. "I'm going to do as much as I can, and nothing is going to stop me," he says.

Fighting cancer her way - Jil Simon

Jil  Simon was happily married with two young children when she received the awful news that she had breast cancer. Determined to maintain as much normalcy as possible in her life and in her children's, Jil used a cold cap while she received chemotherapy.  Normally, the toxic chemicals in chemotherapy cause baldness, but cold caps prevent this traumatic side effect.

Jill's website is www.tresssavers.com

The website for The Rapunzel Project - a volunteer group that raises money for hospitals to buy the special freezers needed to keep the cold caps at the correct temperature - is www.rapunzelproject.org.
